Email is Alive and Well! (poll results)

May 12th, 2008 by Colin Carmichael

Last week I ran a little poll about email use – and the results are in. I asked three simple questions and sixteen of my loyal readers were kind enough to respond. The results show  pretty clearly to me that email is far dead and is, in fact, on the rise among the sixteen people who read my blog.

The Results:

How many active Email accounts do you have?

Selection Responses
1 3 18.8% 18.8%
2-3 6 37.5% 37.5%
3-6 4 25% 25%
>6 3 18.8% 18.8%

What types of email accounts do you maintain?

Selection Responses
ISP 7 43.8% 43.8%
Yahoo Mail 6 37.5% 37.5%
Live (Hotmail) 4 25% 25%
GMail 10 62.5% 62.5%
GMail for Domains 5 31.3% 31.3%
Other 5 31.3% 31.3%

Do have more or fewer email addresses than you did 3 years ago?

Selection Responses
more 14 87.5% 87.5%
fewer 2 12.5% 12.5%

Kudos to the folks at FormSpring.com for making a blog poll so easy!

  1. Well sorry I didn’t post to poll, but I have 5 email accounts, all active infact, 2 more than 3 years ago, hotmail, gmail and other. Going to be dumping 1 very shortly.
