A Classic H. Photo

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Gord’s comment on my previous post prompted me to poke around his photos… I came across this beaut that I had completely forgotten about.

Messy Face

I don’t remember what we ate that meal – but is was orange, and H. loved it!

My Annual Week Away

Monday, August 21st, 2006

PMC logoEvery year since 1982, I have spent the second week of August at Presbyterian Music Camp with my family. Every year has been special in its own way – the year I met my future wife, the year I kissed her, that year we did that thing we shouldn’t have done… This year, though, was particulary special because it was my daughter’s first camp. Being a parent at Camp was every bit as enjoyable as I’d imagined. Caring for a 10 month old child in a community of 150 friends is a piece of cake, apparently, even if the days are 18 hours long!

Normally, Camp is a time to be away from my laptop and the distractions therein. I always have it with me however, though without an internet connection, it usually stays closed for the week. This year, however, we arrived to discover a giant wireless transmitter right in the middle of the campground. Damn. As it turned out, the connection was really wonky and wasn’t very useful – which was more frustrating than not having anything at all. I wasted three days trying to stay connected to the outside world when I should have been paying more attention to what was going on around me. I think next year I’ll leave the laptop at home.

It’s tough coming back into the office after being away for two full weeks (I was away on business the week prior to Camp)… But I’m slowly getting back up to speed…
