Here’s the story…

GOAL:

• Purchase a $50 (US) Gift Card at shop.nhl.com for a relative in Michigan.

Steps Taken:

1. Go to shop.nhl.com
2. click on big ‘Gift Cards’ link in the header
   
3. Select $50 gift card
4. Create account (username/password)
5. Enter billing info… here’s where things get weird… there’s no Canada in the list of countries
   
6. Call Customer Service
7. “Go back to the main page, click on the little Canadian flag in the corner and start over…”
8. Great, Ok.
9. Click on flag… Big ‘Gift Cards’ link disappears
   
10. Search ‘Canadian’ site for gift cards… no dice.
11. Call Customer Service
12. Them: “Go back to the main page, click on the little Canadian flag in the corner and start over…”
13. Me: “But then I can’t find any gift cards.”
14. Them: “Really? Oh, you’re right!”
15. Me: “Soooo, can I buy a gift card or not?”
16. Them: “Do you have a credit card with a non-Canadian billing address?”
17. Me: Dumfounded silence. “No.”
18. Them: “I guess you’re out of luck, sorry.”

Just to be clear, if I lived in Singapore or the Phillapines or Pakistan or just about anywhere BUT Canada, I could have billed my purchase anywhere and had it shipped within the US… but us poor Canadians are just special enough to get the shaft.

Now, if I were going to break & enter someplace, a lock place would probably not be my first choice…

An attempt to Break and Enter was unsuccessful at G & A Lock Service 120 Fountain St E. on 23 September at 2:40 am. An individual tried unsuccessfully to gain entry by breaking a window. Damage is estimated at $300. No suspects. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Guelph Police Service or CRIME STOPPERS 1-800-222-8477.
